This Horizon Europe Cluster 5 topic funds research into preventing and containing fires involving electric vehicles in confined spaces such as underground car parks, garages, ferries and depots. Expected outputs include a European database of EV fire incidents, standardised response protocols, and low-cost detection or containment systems that can be fitted on board or off board. The scope spans vehicle categories M1, N1 and heavy-duty vehicles, including category L vehicles with 400V AC/DC connectors, and calls for a social-science component on public risk perception. The budget is €8.0 million for 1 project. The expected outcome by project end is TRL 6.
