This Horizon Europe Cluster 5 topic funds demonstration of modular, high-voltage (above 800V) powertrains for heavy-duty battery-electric vehicles, built for compatibility with Megawatt Charging Systems. The targeted outcome is roughly a 10% cut in on-board charging losses while keeping the powertrain modular and safe. The scope also covers modular, removable battery packs designed for a possible second-life use, plus a lifetime cost comparison against lower-voltage systems. The budget is €8.0 million per project, with 2 projects expected, for €16 million in total. Projects can start at any technology readiness level and are expected to reach TRL 7.
