This Horizon Europe Cluster 5 topic funds large-scale validation of AI tools, including generative AI, for managing distributed electricity grids in real time. The scope covers federated learning at edge nodes, an AI development environment built into the European energy system's "digital backbone", and a governance model for applying generative AI to energy. Projects must be compatible with the European energy data space and contribute to the BRIDGE initiative. The budget is €10.0 million per project, with 2 projects expected, for €20 million in total. The expected outcome by project end is TRL 7 to 8.
