This Horizon Europe Cluster 4 topic funds pilot plants in the EU that recover critical raw materials from low-grade ores or mining waste, using less water and generating less waste and fewer emissions than current processes. End-of-life product recycling is explicitly excluded; the focus is primary extraction and processing. Projects must cooperate with other selected projects on the same theme and, for those reaching TRL 6-7, present a credible plan for EU-wide adoption by project end. The budget is €10.0-12.5 million per project, with 4 projects expected, for €49 million in total. Projects are expected to start at TRL 5 and reach TRL 7 by the end.
